The introduction of digital labeling of dietary supplements in Kazakhstan is planned for September 2026.

The Ministry of Trade and Integration of the Republic of Kazakhstan has submitted for public discussion a draft order to include dietary supplements in the list of goods subject to mandatory digital labeling and traceability. According to the draft order, mandatory digital labeling of dietary supplements is planned to be introduced in September 2026.

The draft document provides for the inclusion of 57 EAEU TN VED codes in the labeling system, covering a wide range of products used as biologically active additives.

According to the Ministry of Technical Infrastructure of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the consumption of dietary supplements in Kazakhstan has been steadily growing in recent years. Market participants estimate that annual growth in dietary supplement consumption in Kazakhstan is approximately 15–20%. According to the Committee for Sanitary and Epidemiological Control of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan, over the first nine months of 2025, violations were detected in 25% of the more than 20,000 dietary supplement samples collected, confirming the problems in the circulation of these products.

Of particular concern are issues of public safety and health. Furthermore, domestic producers point to unfair competition associated with smuggling and counterfeit products. These products are sold at reduced prices, creating an uneven playing field for bona fide market participants who comply with legal requirements.

The introduction of labeling will ensure transparency in the circulation of goods, reduce the volume of counterfeit and illegal products, create a level playing field for bona fide market participants, improve consumer protection and safety, and provide the state with an objective picture of the dietary supplement market in the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Public discussion of the draft order will take place from April 3 to April 20, 2026, on the portal of open regulatory legal acts. You can review the document and submit your suggestions and comments at the following link: https://legalacts.egov.kz/npa/view?id=15795644 .

As a reminder, digital labeling is currently mandatory for medicines in the Republic of Kazakhstan. A pilot test is underway to test the labeling of medical devices.
