Dozens of violations were identified in medical facilities and pharmacies in Almaty.

The Almaty Department of the Committee for Medical and Pharmaceutical Control of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan summarized its work for the first quarter of 2026. Damir Dauletbayev, Head of the Department, presented the Department's key performance results during a briefing at the Regional Communications Service.

According to the head of the Department, despite the decline in the number of citizen complaints regarding the quality of medical care, oversight of medical organizations and the distribution of pharmaceuticals in Almaty continues at an intensified level. Following inspections, dozens of entities were held administratively liable, and the total amount of fines exceeded 18 million tenge.

The most frequently addressed issues by residents concerned the quality of medical care, the organization of medical services, and compliance with ethics and deontology by medical workers.

In the area of medical service quality control, 103 unscheduled inspections of medical organizations were conducted based on citizen complaints and government agency reports. Following these inspections, 19 administrative reports totaling approximately 2 million tenge were drawn up, 37 orders to correct identified violations were issued, and reports were sent to law enforcement agencies.

In addition, the Department held in-person consultations with citizens regarding 13 inquiries related to the quality of medical care. For each inquiry, necessary clarifications and consultations were provided.

Significant work is also being carried out in the area of monitoring the circulation of medicines and medical devices. During the reporting period, 89 inspections were conducted for the sale of unregistered medicines, exceeding maximum prices, operating without a license, and selling expired medicines. As a result of these inspections, 59 administrative cases were initiated, totaling over 16 million tenge.

Almaty is also continuing to implement a drug labeling and traceability system. 1,291 retailers and 257 wholesalers of drugs are registered in the information system. Outreach efforts are ongoing with pharmacies.

In addition to oversight activities, the Department provides public services in the healthcare sector. During the reporting period, 4,509 public services were rendered across nine categories, including the issuance of licenses for medical and pharmaceutical activities, specialist certificates, and other permits.

The Department emphasized that work to improve the quality and safety of medical care, protect citizens' rights, and ensure the rule of law in healthcare will continue.
