MEDSERVICE PLUS has become the first pharmaceutical company in Kazakhstan to be awarded the EcoVadis Silver Medal, placing it among the top 15 percent of global leaders in sustainable development. The company’s preparation for the international assessment was supported by AstraZeneca Kazakhstan and experts from KPMG Caucasus and Central Asia.

According to an independent evaluation by EcoVadis, a globally recognized sustainability rating platform, LLP “Kazakh Pharmaceutical Company MEDSERVICE PLUS” achieved an exceptionally strong ESG performance score of 76 out of 100 points (94th percentile). This result earned the company a Silver Medal and positioned it among the top 15 percent of sustainability leaders worldwide. As noted by the company, MEDSERVICE PLUS is the first pharmaceutical organization in Kazakhstan to receive such a distinction.

Representatives of the company emphasized that the EcoVadis assessment process was carried out with expert support from KPMG Caucasus and Central Asia. Specialists helped build a structured approach to sustainable development by conducting diagnostics, developing an ESG strategy that integrates environmental, social and governance priorities, and ensuring alignment with international standards. The strategy reflects the company’s commitment to sustainability and transparency. Work was also performed to calculate greenhouse gas emissions and develop a program for reducing the company’s carbon footprint. The EcoVadis Silver Medal confirms the strong level of ESG practices in place, meeting globally recognized benchmarks.

“For us, this is more than just an award—it is confirmation that we have chosen the right path toward sustainable development. We consider this achievement a collective victory for our entire team and an important step toward new ambitious goals. We extend our special appreciation to the international biopharmaceutical company AstraZeneca Kazakhstan for the productive collaboration that enabled us to implement large-scale initiatives and strengthen our course toward a sustainable future,” said Zhanat Umarov, Chairman of the Management Board of MEDSERVICE PLUS.

Gabit Musrepov, Partner and Head of the Sustainability Practice at KPMG Caucasus and Central Asia, noted that the pharmaceutical sector traditionally faces heightened sustainability requirements:
“Complex supply chains, the need for cold-chain logistics, strict regulatory standards, and increased public scrutiny make ESG practices a strategic necessity. The experience of MEDSERVICE PLUS demonstrates that Kazakhstani businesses are ready to compete and meet international expectations,” he said.

MEDSERVICE PLUS also highlighted that it is a leading vertically integrated pharmaceutical distributor in Kazakhstan with its own production facilities and 28 years of industry experience. The company works with 320 global manufacturers, offers more than 7,900 product items, and operates a network of 14 regional branches.

KPMG is one of the largest global networks of professional services firms providing audit, tax, legal, and advisory services. KPMG CCA supports companies in developing ESG strategies, preparing non-financial reporting, and undergoing international sustainability ratings.
