In 2024, 2.9 million patients were provided with free drugs

– To further improve the quality of medical care in Kazakhstan, a digital transformation of the healthcare industry is underway, – said Health Minister Akmaral Alnazarova. A unified digital infrastructure is being created, new approaches are being introduced for the convenience of patients and the efficiency of medical personnel. Pilot testing of the introduction of a unified system of payment for medical care is already underway. A Unified Medical Data Warehouse has also been created, which will become the basis for digital healthcare. A labeling and traceability system has been introduced to improve the transparency and safety of drugs. Through the Social Wallet service, patients have already received drugs for 1.7 million electronic prescriptions - now this project covers all state medical institutions. In addition, eight types of certificates, including sick leaves and medical books, are being converted to electronic format, which significantly saves time for patients and doctors.

Also, according to her, the Ministry of Health has taken a number of steps to ensure uninterrupted access of the population to high-quality and safe medicines. By the end of 2024, 2.9 million patients were provided with free medicines. For the effective use of medicines in hospitals, 78 hospital pharmacy departments were opened. A new method of personalized accounting of drug consumption has been introduced. Changes have been made to the rules for regulating maximum prices and markups on medicines, which has reduced the cost of medicines both in outpatient care and in the retail pharmacy network.
