Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Olzhas Bektenov held a meeting with the Ministers of Health of the Organization of Turkic States, where they discussed plans to expand Kazakhstan's interaction with the Organization, including the exchange of experience and the transfer of modern medical technologies, and considered proposals for the development of healthcare in Kazakhstan and other partner countries, reports the portal primeminister.kz
During the meeting, WHO Regional Director for Europe Hans Kluge noted Kazakhstan's achievements in reducing premature mortality from chronic noncommunicable diseases thanks to a wide range of preventive measures. Plans to increase cooperation in the development of primary health care were also announced.
"Kazakhstan is one of ten countries in the world where we have been able to reduce premature mortality from chronic non-communicable diseases, such as cardiovascular diseases, cancer and others. The measures that Kazakhstan is taking in the field of prevention have had a huge impact: vaping is prohibited, a strict alcohol policy is being implemented, a vaccination program against the human papillomavirus is being implemented. Today we are talking about the second phase of our cooperation, which will include the opening of the Academy of Primary Health Care, where young specialists from Kazakhstan will undergo training and become leading specialists in the modern system of providing services at the PHC level," Hans Kluge emphasized.
According to the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan, by the end of 2024, investments in the healthcare sector of Kazakhstan increased by 8.4% and reached about $920 million, a third of which came from the private sector. At the same time, the volume of attracted investments in the pharmaceutical industry increased almost 2-fold and amounted to $91.3 million. As part of the implementation of the order of the Head of State, the share of domestically produced medicines is growing annually, it is planned that by 2029 it will reach 50%.
The result of the 5th meeting of the Ministers of Health of the Organization of Turkic States was the signing of the Joint Declaration of the OTG countries on health issues, the Joint Action Plan in the field of health, memorandums of cooperation on personnel training, biological safety, etc.
