Electronic signatures for documents of EAEU countries will receive official status

Electronic signatures for document exchange between the EAEU countries (Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Armenia) will receive a single verification. Individual developments have already been tested by the union participants, but they have not yet acquired official status, and now documents transmitted via Internet channels will receive legal force comparable to paper ones.

The IIS EAEU is a system of interstate information exchange between five countries, established in May 2014. It allows participants to exchange information in the field of customs regulation, veterinary and phytosanitary control, and circulation of medicines. For example, it can be used to regulate movements at borders or to create common databases of recalled and banned medicines.

Today, the EAEU space is moving towards full digital interstate interaction. For most EAEU countries, the task is complicated by the fact that national cryptographic standards are used for electronic signatures, which are incompatible with the standards of other countries. Belarus, Kazakhstan, Armenia and Kyrgyzstan, like Russia, are working on creating their national segments of the integrated system. In particular, Kazakhstan is actively developing the digital platform "Digital Kazakhstan", which includes integration modules for working with the EAEU. It is necessary to carry out a huge amount of work, analyze all information systems, agree and bring them to a single standard, including information security (IS), and coordinate all technical and legal nuances.
